Sudden Back Pain While Rowing

I’m part of a rowing club that practices every weekend. It’s fun to get out on the lake and just stroke with your friends. The stroking really gives the rowers a good back workout. It can also give you a good injury if you aren’t careful. This happened to me not too long ago. Everything was going fine, until I made one wrong move and felt a pain in my back that prevented me from doing any rowing. The rest of my friend rowed back to shore and took me to the Oceanside chiropractor.

Even though I had just injured my back, the chiropractor was able to take me in the same day and look at me. He had seen my injury plenty of times before from other athletes, including rowers. It was just a simple muscle sprain that would go away after a few days. I was told not to do any rowing or anything too strenuous while I my back was healing from the sprain, which was easy to do, since I didn’t have a job that required me to do any heavy lifting, and I only practiced on the weekends.

I could feel my back getting better with each day, and I was itching to get back out on the lake and start rowing again. I always have this feeling during the week, but it was even greater because of my injury. As soon as the weekend came, I headed to the lake and got into the boat. That feeling of satisfaction from rowing came back again and I forgot all about the incident that happened the weekend before. It was like I had never even injured myself at all. That’s the kind of mindset that I hope to keep as I start becoming an gray haired old man.
